Vape Duty Calculator: What Your Vaping Will Cost After October 2026

How the Duty Works

From 1 October 2026, the UK's Vaping Products Duty adds a flat £2.20 for every 10ml of e-liquid, whatever its nicotine strength — and crucially, it applies to zero-nicotine liquid too. VAT is then charged on top of the duty, so the real shelf impact is about £2.64 per 10ml bottle. That roughly doubles the price of a typical £2.95–£3.49 nic salt.

Shortfills take the biggest hit: a 100ml bottle contains ten lots of 10ml, so it carries £22 of duty (≈£26.40 with VAT) — turning a £14.95 bottle into a £40+ bottle. Expect the shortfill market to shrink fast and 10ml formats to dominate.

What's Taxed — and What Escapes

  • Taxed: all e-liquid — nic salts, 50/50s, shortfills, prefilled pods (on their liquid content), zero-nicotine liquid.
  • Not taxed: devices and hardware (kits, batteries, empty pods, coils) — and nicotine pouches, which sit outside the vaping duty entirely.

Five Ways to Soften the Hit
