A prefilled pod arrives sealed with juice and a coil inside. You use it and bin it. A refillable pod arrives empty and you fill it yourself from a bottle. Both are called "pods" by every brand on the market. Check the product page before you order, because they are not interchangeable even within the same device family.

Pods rarely fail; they fade. The coil wick saturates with caramelised sweetener and the flavour flattens into something vaguely burnt while there is still liquid visible in the window. That is the point to replace it. Pushing on past it does not damage the device, but it does teach people that a flavour they would otherwise like tastes bad.

Fruit and menthol profiles fade slowest. Dessert, cola and blue-raspberry profiles fade fastest, sometimes at half the life. If you rotate flavours rather than running one continuously, keep the sweet ones for a fresh pod and finish the pod on something lighter.

If flavour goes flat mid-session but returns the next morning, the pod is fine and your palate has saturated. Only three things genuinely reset it: acidity, astringency and bitterness. A citrus profile, strong tea, or black coffee will clear it in a couple of minutes.

Cooling will not, and this is the most widely repeated bad advice in vaping. Menthol and koolada numb the receptors rather than clearing them. A mint pod feels like a reset for thirty seconds and then leaves you less able to taste the next thing, not more.
