I am under 18 — Exit🔒 UK law requires age verification for nicotine products
The questions UK vapers ask most in 2026 — the disposable ban, nic salts, nicotine strength, pods, nicotine pouches and the law — answered clearly and accurately by the team at Ice Vape. Straight facts, no fluff.
Yes. Since 1 June 2025 it has been illegal to sell or supply single-use (disposable) vapes anywhere in the UK, whether or not they contain nicotine. Rechargeable devices with replaceable pods and refillable kits remain fully legal. Browse legal prefilled pod kits.
Prefilled closed pod kits. They look and vape almost exactly like the old disposables, but you keep the rechargeable battery and click in a fresh sealed 2ml pod when the flavour runs out. Elf Bar, Lost Mary, Crystal and Elux all relaunched their ranges this way.
Yes. The big brands kept their exact nic-salt flavour formulas and simply bottled them into 10ml nic salts or loaded them into new compliant prefilled pods.
A disposable had a built-in battery that couldn't be recharged and a pod that couldn't be replaced — now banned. A prefilled pod kit has a reusable rechargeable battery plus a click-in prefilled pod, so it's legal, cheaper over time and less wasteful.
Nic salts are e-liquid made with nicotine in its natural salt form, blended with a mild acid (usually benzoic acid). This delivers nicotine quickly and smoothly without the harsh throat hit of older liquids, which is why they suit low-power pod kits. Shop nic salt e-liquids.
Nic salts feel smoother at higher strengths, hit faster and are ideal for MTL pod kits. Freebase e-liquid gives a stronger throat hit and works better in higher-power sub-ohm (DTL) devices. For most pod-kit users switching from disposables, nic salts are the better choice.
In the UK, nic salts come in two legal strengths. 10mg/ml suits light-to-moderate smokers; 20mg/ml (the legal maximum) suits regular and heavier smokers switching from cigarettes. If you feel dizzy or queasy, drop a strength.
As a rough guide: non/very-light users 0–6mg (freebase); light-to-moderate smokers 10mg nic salt; regular or heavy smokers 20mg nic salt. Pod-kit users switching from a disposable most often pick 20mg because disposables used the same high-strength salt.
20mg/ml is the UK legal maximum and is aimed at heavier ex-smokers. It's the standard strength that disposables used, so if you're moving from a disposable it will feel familiar. If it causes dizziness, headaches or nausea, step down to 10mg.
Step down gradually — for example 20mg → 10mg → lower — giving yourself a few weeks at each level. Reducing too fast usually leads to more frequent vaping, so let cravings settle before each drop.
A standard 2ml prefilled pod is roughly equivalent to an old 600-puff disposable, though the exact figure depends on the device and how you vape. Because the battery is rechargeable, you just add pods to keep going.
Charge the device via USB-C, click a prefilled pod into place, and inhale to activate (most are draw-activated). When the pod is empty, click in a new one; when the battery is low, recharge. Explore vape kits.
A burnt taste means the coil has run dry. Prime a new pod by letting it sit for a couple of minutes after fitting, avoid chain-vaping, and don't let the e-liquid run low. Replace pods every 1–2 weeks or as soon as flavour fades.
Nicotine pouches are small, tobacco-free sachets you place under your upper lip. Nicotine is absorbed through the gum over 20–60 minutes, with no smoke, vapour or aerosol — so they can be used discreetly almost anywhere. Shop nicotine pouches.
Place one pouch under your upper lip, slightly off-centre, and press it gently into place. Leave it for 20–60 minutes — you don't chew or spit. You'll feel a tingle as the nicotine releases within the first few minutes.
Strength is measured in mg per pouch. Beginners and light users usually start around 4–6mg; moderate users settle at 6–10mg; 10–14mg+ is for experienced users with a higher tolerance. Start low and adjust to what controls cravings comfortably.
Pouches contain no tobacco leaf and there's no combustion or smoke, so they avoid tar and the harms of burning tobacco. They still contain nicotine, which is addictive, so they're intended for existing smokers and vapers aged 18+.
