A burnt taste on a brand-new coil almost always means it was not primed long enough — there is no fixing it once the cotton has scorched, so prime the next one properly. Gurgling or spitback usually means condensation in the airway; blow gently through the mouthpiece onto a tissue. Leaking is often a seal seated wrongly, so unscrew and refit the coil.
